Century in America
On July 18, 2023, we celebrated the 100th Anniversary of Fred Swanhorst's arrival at Ellis Island.  Century in America honored Fred and Erika Swanhorst and their lives and legacy in South Dakota.  In attendance were Fred and Erika's son, Bob Swanhorst, his wife Trish, daughters-in-law Donna Swanhorst and Karen Swanhorst, niece Barb Meinerts and 25 of the 27 grandchildren.

The event was hosted and planned by Bob, Lance Swanhorst and Brenda Bruns.  Judy Gabler and Bob Swanhorst were presenters.
 



Judy Gabler donned traditional German attire to present information about Fred and Erika's hometowns in Germany.



Bob picked up the history after Fred and Erika left Germany to build a new life in America.  Bob also created a booklet detailing the journey of their lives in America.
The families of Fred and Erika Swanhorst were represented at the celebration.
